Blue Time, Roberto Menabo January 2000

Fresh coolness reaches us this last one, from Billy Price who already we had appreciated in the previous " The
Soul Collection ." The singer of Pittsburgh this time brings a work produced from that expert navigator Jerry
Williams (more famous with the nickname of Swamp Dogg) the disc has been recorded in the Sunnyside Studios
of Los Angeles with a band of prime and able musicians to create a sound modern and and convincing. Billy is
one of the singers of blues more convincing and interesting in soul music of the last years: his warm and pastosa
voice is able to pass through various registries, from soulful to frenetic always bewitching from the personal and
warm way with which it interprets the songs, nearly all written purposely for him from the same Jerry Williams. "
Can the Change My Mind " is just a beautiful disc of loaded soul but at the same time refined and never banal
and as I listen more carefully you feel between the true lines of chic from the band that has created perfect tuning.
Every song has its created particular sonorous carpet from the professionality and the fantasy of the band: the
introductory song " Crack Crack (When Are you coming Back) introduces us to the spirit of the disc of rhythm
and recognizable and opened melodic lines. An airy mood is continued with the swing " Mines all Mine " in order
to arrive to one of the beautiful pieces of the album " What' s slow Love " brings to light the vocal abilities of Price
in one of its beautiful moments. " Can I Change My Mind " and " Pass The Sugar " bring the ear to quality r&b. If
you want to leave the millenium with rhythm, then here is Billy Price.
